Peaches, Poems, & Battlestar Galactica 🍑
I miss The Office.
August, good to see you.
We refuse to believe summertime is soon ceding to fall. This month’s recommendations will help keep the spirit alive.

A-Frame Club @Winter Park - Photo by Izzy Chelini)
Product Rec:
An enchanted getaway nestled into the base of Winter Park.
How was that? Cheesy enough?
Seriously, this place is legit. It features multiple A-frame cabins fit with a small kitchen, heated bathroom floors, a fireplace, and a loft space similar to a treehouse functioning as your bedroom. The light and temperature controls are dialed in. There is a no-contact service option to access your A-frame or the option to check in through a traditional manner (with a human).
The cabin area also features a hot tub, cold plunge, sauna, tables for games, river, and a walkable neighborhood with access to the winter park village.
Wait, there’s more! The lodge area includes a saloon fit with a bar/restaurant, and an outdoor area for events. The ambience of old western music, a jukebox, and country food offered was magical. Saddle up, head west.
Reel Rec:
A longtime reader of the newsletter shared this reel. It’s one of the more aesthetically pleasing videos I’ve seen in recent memory.
The artist does an expert job of blending each piece’s story into the backdrop of its location. They use simple beginnings and adjust thoughtful details to transform the image from its initial presentation.
Give it a watch, then stop rotting.
Poem Rec:
Sharing a concise version of ‘Sweeping the yard’ below. If you’d like to read the whole piece, ping us with an email and we’ll send it your way. Thank you, and all credit to Henry Shukman for writing.
Sweeping the yard - Henry Shukman
When I sweep the yard in the morning,
I don’t do it for myself,
because I like it tidy,
I don’t do it for the yard’s sake,
because it enjoys being clean
I do it for the shy one
who lives inside me,
who loves the world
better than I ever will,
whose innocence is beyond understanding,
who has nothing to prove,
whose sweetness
shines on the earth
so the earth loves itself again,
…
This is how he wakes up,
this is how his wakefulness
turns our little yard
into the bright place
I remember is home.

Half-Baked Harvest - Peach Cobbler
If you hear a peach shaking in its boots, that’s because it’s peach season, baby.
Sharing a family favorite recipe for a homemade, tart peach cobbler. This dish has a beautiful lack of sweetness, perfectly paired with vanilla ice cream. It’s an easy one to try for both inexperienced and experienced bakers. If you give it a go, send a pic our way.
Song rec:
The Dead South -Broken Cowboy
Some real country western music here. Funny enough, the band is from Canada. We’re not just sharing music in this newsletter - we’re back to building goodwill with our northern neighbors.
Quote to consider:
“What we awaken to when we awaken: finding we’re part of everything, finding in some sense it’s all empty, finding that it’s all arising right now, that we’re inseparable from it, and all creatures and all creation is participating in it.” - Henry Shukman
