Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Neither do I. I’m blaming 21st-century attention span amnesia.
It’s a bad month to be a leaf in the northern hemisphere. But, good for those who enjoy watching the colors of life slowly released from these poor souls!

Activity Rec:
Fall foliage viewing (it’s time to retire peeping, we’re not marshmallows). As a midwesterner, I can’t help but enjoy the colors of the seasonal change - viewing life follow its beautiful circle.
Track fall foliage with this live map to plan your viewing trips accordingly. Take a day, and enjoy the unwavering consistency of our earth.
Movie Rec:
No shortage of vampires in this film. A good stage setter for the Halloween spirit.
I wish I had jumped on a recommendation to view this movie sooner, and in the theaters. This is my favorite new film of 2025.
Incredible acting across the entire cast, with plenty of familiar faces and star power. A compelling, unique storyline. Historical accuracy when applicable, and surprising musical elements. This creative masterpiece is worth moving to the front of your entertainment queue.
Michael. B. Jordan.
Supplement Recs:
Vitamin D - Pure Encapsulations
Magnesium - Pure Encapsulations
Both of these supplements are low-cost and high-value to those who don’t currently include them in their daily regimen. Being from Minnesota, I’ve likely been vitamin D insufficient almost every month of my life.
To confirm this, I pursued bloodwork in late 2024 and found my vitamin D levels to be lower than optimal. Even after living in sunny Colorado for years, I blame my weekly dose of desk jockeying from 9-5. I introduced the vitamin D supplement and found it to be a simple, effective solution.
Now onto the good stuff, magnesium. I had this recommended by a holistic NP to assist with both sleep and blood pressure. It’s proven helpful for both, and non-addictive, as it’s naturally occurring in the body and an essential mineral we need from food.
Recommended doses vary, and I found starting small and building into a consistent dose was a successful way to place it into my nightly routine.
For both of these supplement recs, consult your physician or healthcare provider, and do some research of your own to see if they’re a good fit for your health journey.
Song recs:
Quite the dichotomy this week. A slow jam from Willie Nelson, and an old Rufus Du Sol hit in honor of a concert recently attended.
Recommended listening schedule: Willie @10am. Rufus @6pm.
Are You Sure - Willie Nelson.
Sundream - Rufus Du Sol.
Book rec:
Barbarian Days - A Surfing Life - William Finnegan
I’m enjoying my journey through this read. Finnegan’s autobiography reads like a fictional story as he portrays the dynamic life he’s lived. Surfing his way around the world and experiencing life as a minimalist, pursuing experiences. He tells his story well and provides the perfect read to doze off to after a long day.
Quote to consider:
“We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.” - Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
